Fine Art Award Event 2023
After two years of being online, it was a pleasure to host the Fine Art Award Event in person. It was even more delightful to be back in Mumbai after 5 years.
The evening began with the five Awardees, Gyanwant Yadav, Khandakar Ohida, Mohit Shelare, Rabiul Khan and Sheshadev Sagria sharing insights into their practice. By means of short videos and presentations, they described their practices, urgencies and gave us a sense of how they would like to evolve.
The Awardees were introduced by Prof. Sanchayan Ghosh, one the jury members this year.
Past Fine Art Awardees Sahej Rahal (2012), Debashish Paul (2022) and Gurjeet Singh (2021) (pictured below from left to right) performed in the second half of the evening. Sahej’s performance, Soft Reset re-examined the shifting relationship of the human to non-human forms of intelligence. Debashish presented Meta-Morph, a performance that is a symbolic representation of his search for his true self. Gurjeet’s performance, Erase invited us to questions whether we can truly erase from our being and consciousness the impact certain events have on us.
The Foundation is very grateful to this year’s jury, Sheela Gowda, Shilpa Gupta, Jagdip Jagpal and Sanchayan Ghosh for their time and expertise in selecting the fine talented artists.
